At the English Montreal School Board we are proud of all our teachers who do such a fabulous job.

In the last school year, one teacher did something quite unique. In what can only be described as an astonishing victory, Rosemount High School teacher Emmanuella Lambropoulos, 26,  captured the Liberal Party nomination for the  federal riding of Saint-Laurent-Cartierville. Ms. Lambropoulos, a lifelong resident of Saint Laurent, attended Gardenview Elementary School and LaurenHill Academy before pursuing a career in teaching. She actually started off at her former high school before landing at Rosemount.

Last May, Regional Director Pela Nickoletopoulos was in Ottawa for Ms. Lambropoulos’ swearing in ceremony  as a Member of Parliament.   She was a student of Miss Pela`s when she was the vice-principal at Gardenview and LaurenHill, and principal as well at the latter.

“I feel a lot of pride and that my election was a positive message to people that hard work pays off,” said Ms. Lambropoulos. “I thought about my students quite a bit during the nomination campaign. I taught them about the nomination and election process as well as I told them that I probably wasn’t going to win, but I was going to try anyways. My message to them was that if you’re determined, you should try no matter what obstacles might be in your way.”

Her actions echoed that message as Ms. Lambropoulos went door-to-door on a nightly basis for the month leading up to the nomination vote.

“I always knew that I had a chance of winning. I brought in over 1,000 members to the party, but when you hear the names of the two candidates, it feels like a real accomplishment,” she added.

We work closely with all of our MPs and Members of the National Assembly. How exciting it will be to invite Emmanuella back to her former schools as a political dignitary.

For our students, this accomplishment by a young teacher and one of our graduates is all about achieving a goal through determination and hard work.  Believe in yourselves and you will see that anything is possible.
